Soulmate (or soul mate) is a term used to designate someone with whom he has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, friendship, love, intimacy, sexuality, and / or compatibility. A related concept is the twin flame or soul twin – seems to be the eventual soulmate, the one and the other half of our soul, that all souls are forced to find and join. However, not everyone who uses these terms such mystical connotations, but sometimes are used only as an expression of strong emotional feeling for someone.

Like beliefs spiritual concepts of spirits or soul mates twin is based on the profound spiritual experiences for which there is really no adequate words. We use metaphors to describe these experiences to the experiences so common that new words evolve to describe more precisely our experiences or the stick of metaphors like glue and we accept the metaphor as a literal, when in fact they are still far from being a valid description of our experience.

While it is definitely true that many of us have experience in recognizing another soul with whom they are intimately related, somehow inexplicable, perhaps we should examine the metaphors we use to describe these experiences to shed some light on what may actually be happening. Metaphors are used to apply past experiences, we recognize new experiences, that we own concepts. Without concepts clearly understood that words can not that describe exactly our new experiences, so we must resort to metaphors. But a metaphor is an approximation between two normally described experiences precisely our family experience, but they only provide a reasonably close "as if" the description of our new experience.

So when we meet someone we feel we can share a common past or destiny that we seek a way to explain this feeling and our culture has developed the concepts of soul mates and kindred spirits to accommodate our basic need of words to describe how we feel.

Metaphors of souls twin and twin spirits come from our actual experiences with partners in life, our friends, or having known someone with a twin, a condition biological. Both indicate a degree of relationship that is above the way seems to be related to most people in our lives and that is the essence of what we are trying to express when we find someone to communicate on a deep level of our souls.

However, there are considerations that can make the concepts of soul mates and spiritual twins valid metaphors for our experience to be closely related to another person's soul. Perhaps our souls are broken in some way themselves and our souls have therefore created a separate soulmate. This is one explanation, which would make soul mates or twin souls a reasonably valid metaphor for the experience of meeting a very special person.
